Whether you’re gearing up for -40° adventures or soaking up that sweet midnight sun, we’re here to help you find the good stuff. Our R&D team—also known as our kids—put all our gear through some seriously intense Fairbanks-style testing. From bombing down icy ski trails to unforeseen garage-sales, they make sure everything we sell can handle real-life adventure. If it passes their test, we know it’s ready for yours.

With over 40 years of experience raising a family in Fairbanks, Alaska, we’ve learned that having fun is essential; no matter the temperature. From braving the long, dark winters to savoring the brief, beautiful summers, we were always on the hunt for ways to keep our family active and engaged.
After years of trial and error, we finally landed on our top three passions: ski, surf, and yoga. In 2013, inspired to share what we’d discovered, we founded Trax Outdoor Center—a place where community and adventure come together.

We sell new and gently used equipment
We know it can be expensive to jump into a new sport or upgrade your equipment so trade us your old gear or set up a payment plan that works for you and your family. We want you outdoors in the best equipment enjoying AK, Trax style.
We aren’t just a store
We never wanted to be just another retail store in town. We’ve designed Trax to be like our home: come visit, warm up by the fire, share a root beer on tap or espresso with a friend, take a yoga class, eat some ice cream or just say hi.
We love to party!
We love turning the shop into a fun house for different occasions! Whether it’s throwing a Besh cup pre-race celebration for Alaska families, school ski club party or biathlon club parties, we want to help make your event crazy fun for participants!
