Mindfulness…it’s become one of those new trendy words used in everyday conversations, from elementary school classrooms to executive board rooms. But what is mindfulness, really? And meditation…who has time to just sit with their eyes closed and hum?

This four part workshop will introduce and integrate the practices of mindfulness, pranayama, asana, and meditation to connect to the wholeness of self through mind and body. Each 90-minute workshop will open with 15 minutes of breath work and intention setting, followed by a 60 minute vinyasa practice, and will close with 15 minutes of meditation.

Descriptions of each class contained within this workshop:

March 24: Root to Rise
This workshop will introduce the practices of mindfulness and meditation and how to incorporate these practices into our daily (and very busy) lives. The vinyasa practice will offer basic yoga poses, allowing the yogi to awaken their awareness, learn how to link breath to movement, and discover strength and support by letting go of judgement, comparison, and expectation.

March 31: Open Your Heart to You
Everything in life is either an act of love or a call for love. This workshop will encourage yogis to explore opening of the heart space, on and off the mat. The workshop will open with a journaling exercise and pranayama, and close with a guided meditation. The vinyasa practice will focus on opening the heart center to increase awareness and manifestation of love.

April 7: Let’s Change the Conversation
Monkey mind. Ego. Inner Child. Whatever you call that voice in your head, this workshop will explore how to take notice of the mind chatter without getting sucked into it. Through pranayama, asana, and meditation, the yogi will learn how to meet that messenger with compassion and gratitude.

April 14: Peace Out, Yogis
The “savasana” of the series, this fourth workshop will focus on how to cultivate a more peaceful life, presence, and energy by putting these practices into practice, every day. The movement part of the class will be a slower asana practice; a deeply relaxing sequence with long holds and a long savasana. The final meditation practice in this series will be self-guided, stress-reducing practice of simply breathing consciously.
